What's New in Workplace? December 2022

All the latest Workplace product announcements and feature releases.

This month, we’re excited to share exciting new updates to Knowledge Library, Draft For, multi-people live events and more.
MS Teams to Workplace Live Integration

MS Teams to Workplace Live Integration

Admins can now opt in to early access to our new integration with Microsoft Teams, which will help organizations seamlessly share Workplace content into Teams.
Hold meetings in both Teams and Workplace at the same time with this integration. Take advantage of these Workplace live features when broadcasting from MS Teams: automatically record your broadcast from Teams to Workplace group, generate captions in multiple languages, split your video into chapters and have full control over who can stream to Workplace. Participants can engage by adding reactions, comments, and ask questions as part of a Q and A. Learn more in the Going Live from Microsoft Teams guide.
Draft For

Draft For

Draft For is now available on iOS. The Draft For tab lets drafters see all their drafted posts in a single area. Executives and post approvers can also see all drafts pending approval in the Draft For tab on iOS. Drafters can create new drafts, request approval, and schedule or reschedule drafts all on mobile. Improvements to Knowledge Library

Improvements to Knowledge Library

We’ve made a number of improvements to content creation and management in the Knowledge Library.
  • There are now more status indicators so admins can always tell if a category or subcategory is published, in draft, or not visible.
  • We’ve made new category templates clearer and simplified the information shown when editing a category.
  • When viewing a subcategory, the name of that subcategory will now be displayed, instead of the parent category as it does today. These changes are available on the desktop web version for admins and editors.
  • Admins and category editors can now copy their category or subcategory content into new categories or subcategories. Learn more about how to Edit a Knowledge Library category or subcategory on Workplace.

Additional profile fields

Additional profile fields

We’re introducing 16 additional profile fields to help admins manage groups at scale and give them more control on the information shown in their organizations’ profiles. The new profile fields can be used with people sets to automate group membership and can be populated in bulk with an Identity Provider (IdP) through the SCIM API. To enable these additional profile fields, go to the Admin Panel > Settings > Profile fields.
New updates to Events and Live video

New updates to Events and Live video

All hosts can now request to join a broadcast with multiple hosts anytime during the event. The main host can view who’s trying to join, and accept or decline requests. In addition, all hosts can now go live for scheduled events and start a live broadcast for a live event if the main host isn't able to.
We also made improvements to live polls. Live polls are now available for when host broadcasting with multiple hosts and through third-party integrations such as Zoom, BlueJeans, and WebEx. Broadcasters can now create and run live polls directly from these broadcast sources, as well as in Live Producer from Workplace. Visit the Work Academy to take the live video producer interactive demo.
New Pending invitations page

New Pending invitations page

To help admins easily group and customize invitations for new users to Workplace, we are introducing a new pending invitations page. Administrators will be able to see and filter users’ pending invitations, as well as send customized invitations based on the selected filters.
In addition, we’re introducing a new Invite rules tab on the people page. When new users are added, invite rules will automatically group them using the defined filter. Each invite rule can store a custom message and a custom sender
Plugins - [Admin Only]

Plugins - [Admin Only]

We’re introducing two new plugins for admins. The News Feed plugin lets admins embed users’ personal News Feed into their intranets and the Extending Permission plugin gives admins granular control over who can embed into external surfaces. To learn more, visit the Technical Resources Plugins page.
